The Financial District is also at the southern tip of Manhattan and is the home to some of the city’s most popular spots such as the South Street Seaport, Wall Street, the New York Stock Exchange, and Trinity Church.

Battery Park City is a quiet, peaceful neighborhood at the southwestern tip of Manhattan. The area is known for its stunning scenery, including the Battery Gardens and views of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

This is a favorite place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the area. Pearl Street Diner offers a warm and cozy atmosphere and very generously portioned meals. We recommend their florentine omelette with creamed spinach or their Belgian waffles with fruit and cream.

Morning Activity

Century 21 is known as Manhattan’s #1 discount store. Bargain hunters crowd the scenes very quickly, so we suggest grabbing breakfast as early as possible and heading over here when the doors open at 7:45 a.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. on Sundays. This place is known to have huge markdowns on designer clothing for men and women, as well as home items. And after you finish a little shopping, cross the street over to the World Trade Center site and pay your respects to the 2,993 people who lost their lives that day.

Lunch

This French-owned patisserie is widely known for their mouthwatering desserts and pastries. However, we highly advise eating your lunch here too. Their offer a variety of delicious paninis and hearty, homemade soups. Try their proscuitto, mozzarella, and pesto combo on their fresh baked ciabatta roll

Afternoon Activity

You can’t visit the city without stopping in the South Street Seaport downtown. It is a favorite tourist destination with more than 100 shops, cafes and restaurants. There is also a world-class maritime museum and the riverside views are absolutely breathtaking.

This trip is probably the best deal in the city for tourists! The Staten Island Ferry goes back and forth from Lower Manhattan to St. George, Staten Island every half hour. On the way back, it’s arguably the best view of Manhattan’s skyline. The ride passes the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, lasting about an hour. Best of all, it’s free! Just a warning though – it gets quite windy.

Dinner

One of the best steakhouses in lower Manhattan, Delmonico’s not only offers the ultimate Delmonico steak feasts, but also New York City’s favorite oysters, baked Alaskas, lobsters, and lamb racks. We recommend the lobster Newburg and of course, the classic Delmonico’s steak as a main entrée.

Night Activity

Enjoy a nice, romantic stroll along the river behind the World Financial Center all the way to the Battery Gardens. It’s truly an unforgettable experience. From there you can see Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, and a beautiful landscape view of the borough of Staten Island. Follow the stone path and you might even see fireworks across the river if you are lucky.
